Hello readers. Long time no see, How is everyone? I hope all of you are doing fine. InsyaAllah.

So, it has been such a long period since I last wrote here. I wanted to be really productive. I wanted to write here as much as I can but maybe because I am on a long holiday, I cannot be really productive and informative. However, I will try my best to share beneficial information here.

FOOD.

I bet none of my readers have to open their respective dictionaries in order to find the meaning of the word 'food', isn't it? I believe all of us know what 'food' is. Not just, we all love food especially the delicious ones. However, can you name me anyone that loves food poisoning? I may be writing in front of the laptop right now but all I know is all my readers just shook their heads hard.

Yes, we all hate food poisoning.

Today, I am going to share a little bit of information about food poisoning but before my entry gets boring, I would love to tempt my readers with number of photos that represent foods.

Food Poisoning

Food poisoning is a common, yet distressing and sometimes life-threatening problem for millions of people in the U.S., and throughout the world. People infected with foodborne organisms may be symptom-free or may have symptoms ranging from mild intestinal discomfort to severe dehydration and bloody diarrhea. Depending on the type of infection, people can even die as a result of food poisoning.

More than 250 different diseases can cause food poisoning. Some of the most common diseases are infections caused by bacteria, such as Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli O157:H7, Listeria, and botulism.

TANDA PERTAMA

Ini adalah tanda pertama dari Allah SWT kepada hambanya dan hanya akan disedari oleh mereka yang dikehendakinya.

Semua orang Islam akan mendapat tanda ini cuma samada mereka sedar atau tidak sahaja. Tanda ini akan berlaku lazimnya selepas waktu Asar . Seluruh tubuh iaitu dari hujung rambut sehingga ke hujung kaki akan mengalami getaran atau seakan-akan mengigil. Contohnya seperti daging lembu yang baru saja disembelih dimana jika diperhatikan dengan teliti kita akan mendapati daging tersebut seakan-akan bergetar.

Tanda ini rasanya lazat dan bagi mereka yang sedar dan berdetik di hati bahawa mungkin ini adalah tanda mati maka getaran ini akan berhenti dan hilang setelah kita sedar akan kehadiran tanda ini. Bagi mereka yang tidak diberi kesedaran atau mereka yang hanyut dengan kenikmatan tanpa memikirkan soal kematian, tanda ini akan lenyap begitu sahaja tanpa sebarang munafaat. Bagi yang sedar dengan kehadiran tanda ini maka ini adalah peluang terbaik untuk memunafaatkan masa yang ada untuk mempersiapkan diri dengan amalan dan urusan yang akan dibawa atau ditinggalkan sesudah mati.

TANDA 40 HARI

Tanda ini juga akan berlaku sesudah waktu Asar. Bahagian pusat kita akan berdenyut-denyut. Pada ketika ini daun yang tertulis nama kita akan gugur dari pokok yang letaknya di atas Arash Allah SWT. Maka Malaikat Maut akan mengambil daun tersebut dan mula membuat persediaannya ke atas kita, antaranya ialah ia akan mula mengikuti kita sepanjang masa.

Akan terjadi Malaikat Maut ini akan memperlihatkan wajahnya sekilas lalu dan jika ini terjadi, mereka yang terpilih ini akan merasakan seakan-akan bingung seketika. Adapun Malaikat Maut ini wujudnya cuma seorang tetapi kuasanya untuk mencabut nyawa adalah bersamaan dengan jumlah nyawa yang akan dicabutnya.

TANDA 7 HARI

Adapun tanda ini akan diberikan hanya kepada mereka yang diuji dengan musibah kesakitan di mana orang sakit yang tidak makan secara tiba-tiba ianya berselera untuk makan.

TANDA 3 HARI

Pada ketika ini akan terasa denyutan di bahagian tengah dahi kita iaitu diantara dahi kanan dan kiri. Jika tanda ini dapat dikesan maka berpuasalah kita selepas itu supaya perut kita tidak mengandungi banyak najis dan ini akan memudahkan urusan orang yang akan memandikan kita nanti.

Ketika ini juga mata hitam kita tidak akan bersinar lagi dan bagi orang yang sakit hidungnya akan perlahan-lahan jatuh dan ini dapat dikesan jika kita melihatnya dari bahagian sisi. Telinganya akan layu dimana bahagian hujungnya akan beransur-ansur masuk ke dalam. Telapak kakinya yang terlunjur akan perlahan-lahan jatuh ke depan dan sukar ditegakkan.

TANDA 1 HARI

Akan berlaku sesudah waktu Asar di mana kita akan merasakan satu denyutan di sebelah belakang iaitu di kawasan ubun-ubun di mana ini menandakan kita tidak akan sempat untuk menemui waktu Asar keesokan harinya.

TANDA AKHIR

Akan berlaku keadaan di mana kita akan merasakan satu keadaan sejuk di bahagian pusat dan ianya akan turun ke pinggang dan seterusnya akan naik ke bahagian halkum. Ketika ini hendaklah kita terus mengucap kalimah syahadah dan berdiam diri dan menantikan kedatangan malaikat maut untuk menjemput kita kembali kepada Allah SWT yang telah menghidupkan kita dan sekarang akan mematikan pula.

SUMMARY

Lord Septic is determined to find the long lost gold owned by Lady Gatsby. Lady Gatsby was murdered by his father. Lord Septic buys the railway line in the hope of finding the gold. Meanwhile, Rose who is blind comes to sell flowers to help her sick mother. Lord Septic instructs Crouch to get her out of the station. He takes her flowers and throws them onto the tracks. Percy. Who is a young orphan comes to her rescue but he is knocked down by Lord Septic. Lord Septic and Crouch then tie Rose to a railway track. She finds about Percy’s true identity and the gold. Percy is the heir to the Gatsby gold and is known as Sir Percy. Percy saved her. Lord Septic loses everything.

Characters

ROSE
-She is poor and humble. She lives in poverty and sells flowers for a living. The hardship that she is going through made her lead a simple, humble and homely life.
-She is also blind and innocent. Rose is blind due to the flames at the match factory owned by Lord Septic. She cares for her sick mother, so she sells flowers in order to pay for her mother’s medication and treatments.
- She is a devoted child who looks after her ailing mother although she is blind. She is also optimistic as she never gave up in her effort to earn money to treat her mother. She is also quick in finding out about Percy’s background and gives moral support to him to regain his family fortune.

PERCY
-He is an orphan. Percy’s mother was killed on the railway line and he became an orphan living in poverty and hardship. He was found in the litter bin at the railway station, wearing a purse containing a key bearing the initials, NSL. He went through a poor life without realizing that he is actually the rightful heir to Gatsby Gold. Although he is an orphan, he is a selfless and helpful. He helps Rose to pick up her flowers which is thrown by Crouch, and rescued Rose from being killed by Lord Septic when she is tied on the railway tracks by

-Percy is generous. Although he is poor he is sympathetic towards Rose and really wishes he could give her some money when he first meets her at the railway station. When Percy came to know that he is rightfully the heir of Gatsby Gold, he willing to share his gold with Rose.
-Percy is quick in thinking. He managed to stop the train before it runs on Rose. He then he climbed up the gas lamp at the far end of the station and put his pants over the lamp. The train driver thought it was a stop light, so his pants brought the train to a halt.”

LORD SEPTIC
-He is portrayed as a cruel and greedy man. Lord Septic is a cruel owner of the match factory where Rose worked. . When she lost her eyesight due to the fire in the factory, he did not pay her for the damage. Besides that he treats Rose like a beggar and chases her form the railway station. Although he is rich, he want more and more wealth, he seeks more power and willing to kill for it. He wants to be the richest man and wants to find the Gatsby Gold.
-He is also hot tempered and egoistic. He grabs Rose by the wrist and demands Crouch to tie her up. He takes control of the situation and he said that no one ever tells him what to do. He can also be very violent. He creeps from the shadows and mercilessly hits Percy on his head with his stick. Then he slams Percy against the locker.

CROUCH:
-He can be described as subservient. Crouch is a servant who is so devoted and submissive towards his master, Lord Septic. He gives too much respect to his master. He is dim-witted as he simply agrees with whatever his boss says and instructs.
-He is also a bully. He bullies Rose and throws away her tray of rose across the platform. He has no sense of humanity although he knows that Rose is poor and blind.

SYMBOL

The Wind-blown Rose Petals

• As it commonly represents, in our poster, Rose

too symbolises love relationships.

• Love blossoms between Percy and the main

female character, whose name is Rose as well.

• In displaying rose petals, hence a double trick is

done.

• However, it again brings another symbolic

meaning. Many are unaware that roses actually

signifies success and have been used as a symbol

of superior merit since ancient England.

Therefore, by designing the rose to fall in

petals and are wind-blown (no roots, no

future), again it brings us back to the ending

of the text, where Lord Septic fails to get the

Gatsby Gold, and is sent to the police station.

The Railway Station

• Represents the one and only setting where the

plotline of the whole drama evolves around with.

Be it Lord Septic’s flashbacks of memory, or the

current happening situation, the New Station is

the setting where every event in the drama takes

place.

• As can be seen, the only source of the light for

the whole poster is from the railway station,

signifying that hope and goodness despite all

cruelty and greed, and also that Happy Ending

ultimately takes place, where Percy proposes to

Rose and Rose agrees (in lightning speed).

Move to the back of the bus or train carriage - it might be early in the morning or at the end of a long day at work but WAKE UP and realise other people are crammed like sardines. If you can, move back so there's one less person left frustrated at the bus stop.
Invest in decent headphones. Tinny muffled sounds from loud, leaky headphones can drive everyone around you crazy. You might love the sounds of death-metal or Chinese opera but the people near you won't. Turn it down to save your hearing (and your travel neighbours' sanity) or buy decent headphones that keep the sounds for your ears only.
Don't wait to be told - body odour issues are hard to stomach on crowded public transport. If you are standing in a sea of space whilst others huddle away and breathe through an oxygen mask, you need (a better) deodorant. Take the hint…
Similarly, everybody should get up to give a seat to the elderly, anyone with mobility issues, pregnant women and those with babes in arms. Do your good deed today and show the students how it's done.
Remember 'Clive the too-loud commuter' sketches from The Chaser show? Keep that in mind next time you're chatting to your new lover, ex-girlfriend or psychologist on your mobile. Sometimes phone conversations can add interest to a dull trip but then maybe your travel companions will know a whole lot more about you than is decent…

How to Make Ice Cream .

Milk can become homemade ice cream in five minutes by using a bag! This homemade, creamy treat is a summertime delight for kids and adults alike.

Enjoy doing this,people!

What you'll need:

1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons rock salt
1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
Ice cubes

How to make it:

Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully. Enjoy!

Tips:

A 1/2 cup milk will make about 1 scoop of ice cream, so double the recipe if you want more. But don't increase the proportions more that that -- a large amount might be too big for kids to pick-up because the ice itself is heavy.

In today's modern society media has become parcel of our life as it contributes a lot . Media is a bridge between the governing bodies and general public . It is a powerful and flexible tool that influences the public to a great extent . Media’s duty is to inform, educate and entertain . Media is voice of the voiceless and a great force in building the nation . They put their lives in danger like in times of terrorist attacks or natural calamity just to inform us about it. There are various types of media such as television , magazines and newspapers .

Actually , media can contribute a lot to a society as it is one of the most flourishing industries nowadays . This is because media has audience . Media acts as a medium that helps opinion-changing between people . This is because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of strength . According to the A.C. Nielsen ( 2010 ) the average American watches 3 hours and 46 minutes of TV each day .This strength can be used constructively by educating the people as well . As they educate people , they tend to liberate and empower them at the same time . Other than that , power of the media can transform the whole society especially in the developing countries . The most important use of media is to educate the people about the basic human rights. The dilemma of the developing countries is that people are not fully aware of their basic rights and if they know, they don't know about what to do and where to go. Media should portray the facts. They should not transform the reality . However , media brings more harm .

One of the disadvantages of media is that it contains false images . According to Donia S. Najar ( 2010 ), the main idea of mass media today is to present the audience the perfect idea or look of something . As we flip through the media , we can see a lot of advertisement about various products especially beauty-care products . The problem with false image is that it can decline our self-acceptance . We tend to hate our own body and dream to have our body like the models in the advertisement . These emotional conflicts repulse us from who we really are . False image can also harm our health . As we are tempted by the advertisement , we tend to try the products out . It may turned out that the product do not work well with us and consequently bring various diseases such as bulimia and anemia . According to Mark Sweeney ( 2010 ) , television advertisements help increase market . However , false image can bring bad image to the market of other beauty products . This is because , readers might not believe the advertisements anymore . The worse thing is that the media might be affected as well . Therefore , false image affects not only the society but the products and media themselves .

Media wastes our money , time and circulation . According to Kashmira Lad ( 2008 ) , whether we realize or not , media costs us high amount of money . As they love that reading material , they will waste their money buying the magazine monthly using the money they are supposed to buy other beneficial reading materials . This is such a waste of money . According to Emma Wanjiku ( 2010 ) , we are living the world of social media craze . Despite the fun of getting to know new people and releasing tension by sharing stories , we need to be ready to connect with our audience all the time . This is the disadvantages where it consumed time . The amount of time a person spend in front of their computers replying comments should be moderated because it decreases time spent on more beneficial activities such as reading, playing with friends, and developing hobbies . Media is also the best example of the Waste of circulation. It is such a waste of circulation when we are paying to send your message to a lot of people who will probably never be in the market to buy from you . As all of us know , in the era of globalization , we encounter many different companies which produced different newspapers and television programs . Due to the many of media products , we cannot pay attention to all and that leads to the waste of circulation . So , it is obvious that media wastes money , time and circulation .

Another disadvantage of media is that it destructs children’s morality .. According to Mike ( 2010 ) , 64 percent agree the news and entertainment media exercise powerful influence over American moral values which is not good . This is because much of today's television programming is violent. According to Robert Roten ( 2001 ) , violence has been a part of cinema since ages . Children who view shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see. Children with emotional, behavioral, learning or impulse control problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence . Media also increases the case of sexual abuse . As parents nowadays are very busy dealing with their career life , they are lack of time to take control of their children . Therefore , their children are free to view porn sites . As a result , they will be influenced to try all the actions they seen . Other than that , many movies tend to convey message that life is easy , therefore , we need to live life to the fullest . For instance , the trilogy of High School Musical which is one of teenagers’ favourite teen movies . This will discouraged the children from studying . It is clear that media disrupys children’s morality .

Media has many advantages but it also has a lot more disadvantages . Media ruins children’s morality . This is due to the spreading of porn sites , violence movies and movies which tell the children that life is easy . Other than that , media is a waste of money , time and circulation . This is because media is somewhat addictive . Media also contains false image . False image harms our health , lower our self-acceptance and decrease the market . Therefore , media has a lot of disadvantages .

Before I start writing this entry, I would like to ask a question. Do not you think that this blog has been a little too educational and too focused about English Language alone? I believe you are all nodding right now. Therefore, I am going to make up for my readers and let them let loose a little in this entry. However, being an educational blog, this blog should not be any less educational, right?

So, in today's entry, I am going to present a few facts. Do not worry. There will be no jotting down and all, just some facts you may or may not know.

Facts about bones.

* Bones are made from living tissue that not only shape and support the body and protect some organs, but they also act as storage sites for minerals.

There are 206 bones in the adult human body:-

- 80 axial bones - found in the head, facial, hyoid, auditory, trunk, ribs, and sternum.

-126 appendicular bones - found in the arms, shoulders, wrists, hands, legs, hips, ankles, and feet

* Children however start out with 300 bones. As a child grows, some of these bones fuse together.

* The smallest bone in the human body is found inside your ear. Called the stirrup bone, or stapes, it is only 0.25 to 0.33 cm long (0.10 to 0.13 inches) and weighs only 1.98 to 4.3 mg.

* The longest and largest bone in your body is the femur or thighbone, and is approximately 1/4 of your height in length.

* Many bones are also hollow making them stronger and lighter.

* Your funny bone is not actually a bone. It's a point on the elbow where the ulnar nerve passes near the surface. When the nerve is knocked against the bone, a sharp tingling sensation results. So whatever you may think, the funny bone is not humerus!

Nowadays , it is common if we come across many articles about smoking and badly can they affect our lives in various terms such as health when we flip through the newspapers . It seems like smoking has become major concern . We will also be updated about people who died because of their smoking habit which leads to many diseases . According to Terry Martin ( 2007 ) , smoking is the prime factor of heart disease , stroke and chronic lung disease . Therefore , various efforts have been done in order to decrease the amount of smokers . As for Malaysians , we have been exposed about smoking and how smoking could bring troubles to us in the future . As for the students , as they learnt Science subjects , they will be taught clearly about the content of cigarettes such as nicotine and how each content contribute to all the bad effects . However , despise all that bad stories about smoking habit , people seem to not care and still carry on with their unforgiveable smoking habits . There are various causes and effects of smoking . Smoking can be caused by various influences and can affect people’s health and appearance .

A reason why people start smoking could be from living with people who smoke. Children who grow up with smokers take up the habit more frequently than those who grow up in a smoke-free home. According to Poushali Ganguly ( 2008 ) , smoking parents might influence their children to start smoking . As teenagers are very immature in order to decide , they frequent see in their point of view that smoking is a sign of growing up .. They will begin by imitating the way their parents smoking using non-cigarettes and as time pass by , they will be thrilled to test the real cigars which will lead them to various bad effects throughout their whole lives . Peer influence seems to play an important role in smoking. As all of us know , friends are major part of teenagers’ life . If they have friends who smoke , there is a high possibility that they will smoke in order to fit in with their friends . As they are stress , their friends might take advantage to persuade them to try smoking . They will tell their friends how smoking can help them release stress . As they are their friends , they will easily trust their friends and try smoking . As they smoke once , they will tend to continue smoking and become addicted . As a result , they can hardly leave the smoking habit and should be prepared to become sick in the future . Advertising techniques are one of the main reasons that people begin to smoke. According to Brian Welsch ( 2008 ) , cigarettes advertisements never tell the bad consequences of smoking . Have you ever seen a billboard with normal, middle aged person smoking? Do they show people with stained teeth, wrinkled faces, and a large cloud of smoke hovering over their heads- the direct results of smoking. No. This is because that action will scare the non-smokers as well as the smokers and will consequently affect their business . Regardless their selfishness , they tend to publish very creative cigarettes advertisements and attract the non-smokers to try smoking . As for the smokers , they will continue smoking and become heavy smoker . All cigarettes advertisements are designed to look cool , attractive and downright sexy . This will pull the teenagers’ desire to try on cigarettes .

As people speak about smoking habit , we already know that cigarettes affect health in a negative way . We are well aware that smoking habit contributes to many types of cancer such as lung and bladder cancer . Little did we know that smoking habit can also lead to a disease we seldom heard about which is pulmonary disease . The worst part is , smoking can lead to very chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . According to Brian Welsch ( 2008 ) , this disease can lead to death if the patients have not being treated badly . This is because this disease involve airways and air sacs . The airways and air sacs will lose their shape and become floppy . As a result , less air will get in and less air will get out due to the loss of elasticity by the airways and air sacs . In conclusion , this disease will lead to respiratory problems . For a smoking mother who is pregnant , her smoking habit can also affects herself and her baby very badly . According to Paul Courtney ( 2004 ) , smoking could give various complications to both mother and her baby during pregnancy and delivery . As for the mother , she can be hospitalized due to excessive vomiting as it is not good for her health . She might get tired vomiting because every time she vomits , she might lose some nutrients . This is because pregnant mothers need enough nutrients for herself and her baby . As for the newborns , their size is greatly altered due to smoking . Normally , pregnant mothers will deliver their babies earlier . This pre term delivery newborns usually are in smaller size compared to non-premature babies . Other than that , consequences can also develop later in childhood . The children might be getting some diseases such as asthma and might affects the children’s academic reputation as well . Smoking not just effect smokers’ health but non-smokers too . According to Kevin Mathias ( 2007 ) , people who inhale smoke from cigarettes have a very high risk to get various diseases such as cough , nausea , headache , eye irritation , sore throat , dizziness and respiratory problems . Therefore , it is proven that smoking habit bring bad effects to people’s health regardless whether that person is a smoker or a non-smoker . As we can see , smoking habit brings no good to health .

Furthermore , smoking habit can also affects one’s appearance . As all of us know , bad appearance can affect our self-confidence . According to Brian Welsch ( 2008 ) , smokers tend to have those “ smoker ‘s face “ , a condition that is identified on 1965 . Usually , smokers skin has grey tint to it and it is pale . Nevertheless , smokers also tend to have more wrinkles than non-smokers . This is due to the narrow of the blood vessels near the surface skin and fibers that damage .Other than that , smokers also have their own facial expression . Smokers always do the lips pursing and eye squinting . It is as if they are holding cigarettes and avoiding smoke . Smoking also give bad body appearance . Normally , smokers appeared to become anemic . This is smoking restricted the body from utilizing some vitamins as they should . For instance , smoking damage the depletions of Vitamin A and Vitamin C . Vitamin A is involved actively in repairing skin while Vitamin C is an antioxidant and helps the body absorb iron .That is why smokers appeared to be anemic or in other words , thin . Therefore , if we observe hard enough , we might find that heave smokers are not well-fitted . Otherwise , they are very skinny and seems very sick all the time as if they suffer from any disease . Moreover , most smokers appeared to be unhappy with their lives . This might be caused by their awareness of how bad things will become in the future because of their bad smoking habit . They might be worried of their health . As a normal person , a smoker also has certain people whom they care about very much . Therefore , we are sure that they do not feel quite as happy inside as how pleasure they look outside . So , it is vivid that smoke can degrade our appearance in every possible way .

Smoking habit is bad to everyone . Smoking habit brings bad effects all the way . Smoking habit degrade our physical appearances . This can cause us to have very low self confidence and people around us might not feel comfortable to be near us . Other than that , smoking habit also effects our health in a very bad . The worst part is , smoking habit not just effects the smokers themselves but the non-smokers as well . This is due to the content of cigarettes . Smoking can mainly be caused by many influences . As most early smokers are teenagers , they tend to be influenced by parents who smoke , friends as well as media mass because they are too curious to try new things . Hello, readers. How is life? I hope everything is good. Well, today a little bit of difference in my entry because I am going to talk about poetry devices. I believe my readers have read at least one poem , right? However, what is reading a poem without knowing the poetry devices?

Poetry has emotion, imagery, significance, beauty, dignity, rhythm, sometimes rhyme, a different arrangement which can include inversion, and concreteness in its images.

One way to attain the qualities so essential to making words poetic is through the use of poetry devices. We won't begin to cover all the known poetic devices or terms. Rather we'll discuss and use some of the more commonly known and used ones.

Below are the more commonly used poetic devices and terms. Hopefully, with the examples given, everyone can better understand some of the ways to make poetry, well, more poetic.

Poetry devices (a major sampling):

alliteration: the repetition of a beginning sound.

-Rain reigns roughly through the day.

-Raging anger from the sky

-Partners prattle of tormented tears

-From clouds wondering why

-Lightning tears their souls apart.

In the first two lines, the r sound is repeated. In the third line p starts two adjoining words.

allusion: a casual reference to someone or something in history or literature that creates a mental picture.

A Common Woman

No Helen of Troy she,

Taking the world by war,

But a woman in plain paper wrapped

With a heart of love untapped,

She waits, yearning for her destiny

Whether it be a he on a charger white

Or one riding behind a garbage truck.

Perhaps instead a room of students

Lurks in the shadows of her life

Needing her interest to be shown.

Yet other concerns may call

No, no Helen of Troy she,

But a woman set the world to tame

Wherever she may be.

Helen of Troy brings to mind a woman so beautiful that two countries went to war over her.

analogy: the comparison of two things by explaining one to show how it is similar to the other.

Day's Journey

The day dawns as a journey.

First one leaves the station on a train,

Rushing past other places

Without a pause or stop,

Watching faces blur through the window,

No time to say goodbye.

On and on the train does speed

Until the line's end one sees,

Another sunset down

Without any lasting memories.

The whole poem creates analogy, the comparison of a day and a train journey.

caesura: the pausing or stopping within a line of poetry caused by needed punctuation.

-Living, breathing apathy

-Saps energy, will, interest,

-Leaving no desire to win.

-All that's left are ashes,

-Cinders of what might have been.

The punctuation within the lines (in this case, all commas) are the caesura, not the punctuation at the ends of the lines.

enjambement: the continuation of thought from one line of poetry to the next without punctuation needed at the end of the previous line(s).

Looking through the eyes

Of wonder, of delight,

Children view their world

With trust, with hope

That only life will change.

Enjambement is found at the end of lines 1, 3, and 4 because punctuation was not needed in those places.

hyperbole: extreme exaggeration for effect.

Giants standing tall as mountains

Towering over midgets

Bring eyes above the common ground

To heights no longer small.

Arms of tree trunks wrap

In comfort gentle, softness

Unthought of due to size,

Yet welcomed in their strength.

Giants aren't really tall as mountains, nor are arms tree trunks, but the use of the exaggeration helps create the image wanted.

metaphor: the comparison of two unlike things by saying one is the other.

Sunshine, hope aglow,

Streams from heaven's store

Bringing smiles of warming grace

Which lighten heavy loads.

Clouds are ships in full sail

Racing across the sky-blue sea.

Wind fills the cotton canvas

Pushing them further away from me.

In the first stanza, sunshine is compared to hope while in the second, clouds are compared to ships.

metonymy: the substitution of a word for one with which it is closely associated.

Scandals peep from every window,

Hide behind each hedge,

Waiting to pounce on the unwary,

As the White House cringes in dismay.

White House is used in place of the President or the government, and readers understand what is meant without exactly who is being directly addressed.

onomatopoeia: the sound a thing makes

Roaring with the pain

Caused by flashing lightning strikes,

Thunders yells, "Booooom! Craaaashhhh! Yeow!"

Then mumbles, rumbling on its way.

Grrrr, the lion's cry echoes

Through the jungle's den

Causing creatures small

To scurry to their holes.

Roaring, rumbling, cry are not examples of onomatopoeia, but are verb forms. Boooom, craaaashhh, yeow, and grrrrr are examples of onomatapoeia.

oxymoron: the use of contradictory terms (together) for effect.

Freezing heat of hate

Surrounds the heart

Stalling, killing kindness,

Bringing destruction to the start.

Freezing and heat are contradictory, opposites, yet the two together create a mental image.

personification: the giving of human traits to non-human things incapable of having those traits.

Anger frowns and snarls,

Sending bolts of fire from darkest night

That bring no brilliance,

Rather only added blackness of sight.

Frowning and snarling are human traits that anger cannot experience; however using them as traits for anger creates the imagery needed.

simile: the comparison of two unlike things by saying one is like or as the other.

Sunshine, like hope aglow,

Streams from heaven's sky

Bringing smiles of warming grace

On breeze whispers like a sigh.

Clouds are like ships in full sail

Racing across the sky-blue sea.

Wind fills the cotton canvas

Pushing them further away from me.

These two stanzas of poetry and those for metaphor are nearly identical. Both metaphor and simile are comparisons of unlike things, but metaphor states one thing is the other while simile says one is like the other, or as the other.

symbol: something which represents something else besides itself.

The dove, with olive branch in beak,

Glides over all the land

Searching for a place to light.

Storms of war linger on every hand,

Everywhere the hawk does fight.

The dove is a symbol of peace, and the hawk is a symbol of war. Using them in poetry gives an image without having to explain in detail.

Other terms:

elegy: a poem of lament (extreme sorrow, such as caused by death)

free verse: a poem without either a rhyme or a rhythm scheme, although rhyme may be used, just without a pattern.

blank verse: un-rhymed lines of iambic pentameter (ten syllables with all even numbered syllables accented)

imagery: the use of words to create a mental picture

mood: the emotional effect of a poem or a story

Krump essentially stands for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise. A popular form of freestyle street dance, Krump dance or Krumping is very energetic and volatile in nature. The versatility factor in this dance enables different people to adapt it according to their own personality or what suits them the best. Now that this dance has evolved from its primitive stage, there is a defined structure and defined styles of Krumping. It is often confused with clown dancing, though both are separate forms of dancing. Infact, Krump dancing can be regarded as an off-shoot of clown dancing.

—History and Origin of Krumping

—This form of dancing has Christian roots. It basically began as vent to release anger, aggression and frustration positively, in a non-violent way. This was in opposition to street violence, which was much prevalent due to violent gangster activities. This dance was popularized by the documentary movie ‘Rize’, which gave the world a glimpse into this free-style form of dancing that was being popularized on the streets of Southern California. Krumping began with Tommy the Clown (hip-hop dancer) and his group of Krump crews. It was introduced in the early 90’s and was quickly lapped up by the privileged classes.

—With time and growing popularity, more and more people came to know about it and found it to be an interesting way of releasing the pent-up aggression, non-violently. Gradually, it came to be followed and learnt by people from different regions was slowly given different styles by people from various regions. Different regions altered this form of dance in their own though the basic idea remained the same. Initially, the face was painted in colorful tones, to represent a clown. However, with time, sophistication took over and the use of paints became a matter of personal choice and expression.

—An urban street dance form that began in Los Angeles, Krumping has spread its wings quite wide today. The growing popularity has made it a well-known form of dance style that also has an aspect of fashion embedded in it! Right from what is to be worn and which color paints are to be used, everything has now a structured pattern and definite style. However, it continues to be characterized by free, expressive, and highly energetic moves of the arms, head, legs, chest and feet. A major part of hip hop culture, it is used frequently in hip-hop street dance battles as well.

—Krumping comprises of a number of styles within itself, the most common of which are dissing (from disrespectful) and sick' movements such as grimey and snaking, as well as beasty, bully, cocky, flashy, goofy (regarded as the least aggressive), jerky, rugged, and tricks. In this style of dancing, the dancers organize themselves into groups known as families' or fams'. Leading the group is the senior dancer, called a Big Homie, who serves as the instructor, mentor, as well as the de facto sibling to the younger and less experienced Lil' Homies (junior dancers).

Hello dear readers. How has life been treating you? I hope everything is fine though. So, like I promised you earlier, today, I am going to introduce you to a few types of essay and their definition.

For your information, there is a number of types of essay i this world. Some of them you may never heard of but they do exist. However, right now, I am only going to introduce you to a few common types of essay. Take note ;

Common essay types include the following:

Persuasive/argumentative essay.

Makes a claim or takes a position and backs it up with statistics, expert opinions, and other evidence. You may review an opposing review and explain why it is wrong and you are right.

Comparison essay.

This essay demonstrates similarities and differences between two topics.

Descriptive essay.

This essay explains the “what, why, how, when, and where’s” of a topic. For example, a descriptive essay about a tree would explain what it’s made of, why it grows, when it grows, and so on.

Evaluation essay.

This essay describes a thing or event and explains its importance, value, and/or relevance. Did you like this thing? Why? Did you not like it? State why.

Narrative essay.

This type of essay tells a story in a sequence of events. There should be some point, lesson, or idea gleaned from this narrative to make the essay meaningful.

So, those are the most common essays everyone SHOULD know. So, have you found out what makes the previous essay the compare-contrast or comparison essay?

Compare- Contrast Essay

Teenagers usually find a side job during long holidays . This is because they want to feed their lifestyle . Some of them find that job in order to buy branded clothes , new hand phones and many other cool stuff . I am one those teenagers that apply for jobs during my holiday. My aim was to gain some useful experience and fill my leisure usefully . I want to get to know many people and experience the real suffer to earn money so that I would appreciate money . During my last holiday , I managed to work at two different bakery houses which are Secret Recipe and Yee’s Bakery . Although both of them are bakery houses but I happened to observe many differences . There are differences regarding the dress code , business hours and style of working .

There are slightly some differences regarding the dress code . As I worked at Secret Recipe , I was asked to obey the dress code . My working attire was a red blouse with a pair of black pants and a pair of shiny black shoes on my feet . The dress code might sound a bit fussy but I think it was quite a good feeling to have my colleagues wearing the same thing like I did . Other than that , I was also provided with a name tag which actually helped a lot . This is because , as there was my name on it , it will be easier for the customers and my colleagues to alert me if they were in need of my assistance . When I was working at the Yee’s Bakery , it was different . I need not to follow any dress code as I was allowed to wear anything as long as the attire was comfortable and not too much for my work . That was easier as I can wear anything I wish without any hesitance . It felt more comfortable being able to wear the shirt I wanted to while working compared to when I had to wear uniform . However , I have to admit that it was kind of not neat . Furthermore ,I like the idea of uniformity while working because that actually helps a lot to motivate me to work hard . This is because uniformity helps building teamwork among the workers . So , there is a huge difference of dress code between Secret Recipe and Yee’s Bakery .

Despite the differences on the dress code , there were also some differences regarding the working hours . I worked for six hours daily at Secret Recipe as each shift consists of six hours . The workers need to work according to shift . However , I need to work extra hours every time there were festive seasons such as Chinese New Year and Christmas Day . Sometimes , I even worked since 9.30 am until 12.00 am . This is due to the too many cake reservations we had to deal with . We also took reservations for many other occasions such as wedding ceremonies and birthday celebrations . In other words , my working hours were very packed as Secret Recipe also plays as a restaurant that serves customers . However , things were different when I worked at Yee’s Bakery. The bakery is located near my residential area . The business hours were made specific . I started working at exactly 8.30am in the morning and end at 6.00pm everyday . Other than that , I also got leave for every festive season . As for the festive season that I celebrate such as Hari Raya Aidiladha , I got extra days of leaving . Truth be told , my working hours there were quite loose because that bakery was a lot different compared to Secret Recipe mostly because Secret Recipe is more popular than Yee’s Bakery . Therefore, we did not get reservations as many as when I worked at Secret Recipe previously .

Other than that ,there is also slightly some differences about the style of working . Honestly , I admit that working in Secret Recipe claimed me to be really disciplined . This is because , I needed to start my job half an hour earlier and ended my job half an hour later . As working at Secret Recipe claimed us to communicate with our customers a lot , therefore , I needed to be very polite all the time just to satisfy my customers . However , working at Yee’s Bakery was kind of different as I needed not to communicate so much with the customers because normally , senior workers will take orders from customers and the junior workers will only prepare for the reservations . On one hand , working at Secret Recipe was more tiring than working at Yee’s Bakery. I did not get any rest except during my recess time . That was due to the pack working hours and the many reservations I needed to deal with . On the other hand , working at Yee’s Bakery was quite enjoyable as we did not get too many reservations . Therefore , it was less tiring as we did not have to rush in order to settle down with all the reservations . There were always some time where all the workers got to talk and laugh with each other .

In conclusion , working at Secret Recipe is different than working at Yee’s Bakery . There is slightly some differences about the style of working . When I was working at Secret Recipe , I was taught to be a very disciplined worker as I need to follow certain rules and communicate politely with the customers . Next difference is the working hours . Working at Secret Recipe was more stressful because I was asked work according to shifts and sometimes work extra hours during special occasions . The last difference is the dress code . Working at Secret Recipe claimed me to follow the dress code provided while I can wear anything when I work at Yee’s Bakery . However , I like working at Secret Recipe more than I like working at Yee’s Bakery .

So that was the essay I wrote about one ago. Instead of telling you what makes it a compare-contrast essay, why do not I leave you analyzing the whole essay and analyse it yourself? 5 Ways to Write Good Essay

Hello readers. How are you? I wish all of you are in the pink of health .

So today, I am going to share with you five important steps to write a good essay. I believe many of you are not aware about these steps. Some of you might instantly write an essay right after you get the title. However, there are chances that you are going to misunderstand. Therefore, these steps could be very useful to help you in order to write good essay.

There are five main steps to write a good essay.

Step 1: Read the essay

Read the question carefully before you decide what kind of essay it is - opinion, compare/contrast, problem and solution, cause and effect, or a mixture. The type of question will decide the layout and your ideas later.

Step 2: Underline

Then,underline key vocabulary in the question and write words with the same or related meaning. This will really save you a lot of time later on. It will also help to avoid repetition of words, and will show that you understand the question very well.

Step 3: Get Ideas

After that,decide if you are for or against the idea. Usually it is best to give both sides (for and against - one paragraph each) and then to give your opinion in the conclusion. However there are other ways of laying out your essay.

Step 4: Decide Layout

You should decide on a layout. The easiest is 3773. That means four paragraphs: introduction (3 sentences) one side (7 sentences), the other side (7 sentences) and the conclusion (3 sentences). This will give you 20 sentences. An average of about 12 words each, that is 240 words. Perfect!

Step 5: Write

After you have written your plan, write your essay. Follow the steps in this website for writing the introduction, body, and conclusion. Check for fragments,run-ons and comma splices.

Therefore,those are five important steps to write good essay. Practise this, it helps a lot. Good luck !

So , this entry would be a little different but not less educational . If in the previous posts , I shared a few useful knowledge regarding Grammar , today , I would like to share some tips things you need to on how to excel in an English interview . I know this would be handful for my readers . So sit laid back and enjoy this entry : )

Dear readers , in order to succeed in an English interview , you must be well-prepared . There are tasks you need to complete before and during the interview . There are things you need to pay attention to .

Before the Interview:

First and foremost ,if not already taking an English course, take a pre-test to determine your current level of English and what needs to be addressed as far as grammar, pronunciation, fluency, issues. Take note . One very important tip is to find a good English teacher or a friend with an advanced level of English (even better if native) and ask him or her to interview you and provide you with feedback afterwards. This would be very useful on order to measure your level .

Next , write an introduction of yourself. In this introduction you should include relevant information about your past, present and future life: Family life, profession/occupation, hobbies, past experiences, and goals for the future .

Practice reading the previous description in front of a mirror. Make sure you look at the mirror every now and then, this way you can learn to keep eye contact. When you can do it well enough, do it in front of an English teacher or a person with a level higher than yours. Ask them to give you some feedback on it.

Convert the information from your description into questions and practice with a partner. Answer each question in a complete way. Make sure you include key information from the question in your answer. For example: What do you think you will have achieved by the end of the year? Possible Answer: By the end of the year, I think I will do a lot better in my studies .

Congratulations , you have completed the steps to excel in an English interview before that particular interview . Now , I shall provide you with tips on what to do on the day of interview .

On the day of interview , make sure you arrive at the testing center well before the test. You need to be on time because not being on time will say a lot about your personality . Remember , this interview determines your future , somehow . Furthermore , you could use a little more time to get ready and settle down . So , being on time is important .

Next ,greet the interviewer and wait for instructions. Do not just jump in and do the talking . That would be bad for your reputation . Be polite .

If you miss part of the question, ask for a repetition politely . The interviewer sure will repeat the question nicely for you .

Next , maintain eye contact with the interviewer but do not stare. Eye contact is important in order to tell the interviewer that you are confident . Remember , being confident is important to succeed in an interview .

Be mindful of your pronunciation and grammar, as well as volume and speed. Do not talk too loud nor too slow . Do not talk too fast not too slow a pace .

The most important thing is to smile and maintain a pleasant attitude. This would help you score some extra marks .

So , in the first entry , I am going to provide notes of Nouns . I hope this will benefit my readers .

So , what is 'Nouns'? Nouns are commonly thought of as "naming" words, and specifically as the names of "people, places, or things". Nouns such as John, London, and computer certainly fit this description, but the class of nouns is much broader than this. Nouns also denote abstract and intangible concepts such as birth, happiness, evolution, technology, management, imagination, revenge, politics, hope, cookery, sport, literacy....
Because of this enormous diversity of reference, it is not very useful to study nouns solely in terms of their meaning. It is much more fruitful to consider them from the point of view of their formal characteristics.

CHARACTERISTICS OF NOUNS : Common and Proper Nouns

A)Many nouns can be recognised by their endings. Typical noun endings include:

*-er/-or*	actor, painter, plumber, writer
*-ism*	criticism, egotism, magnetism, vandalism
*-ist*	artist, capitalist, journalist, scientist
*-ment*	arrangement, development, establishment, government
*-tion*	foundation, organisation, recognition, supposition

B)Most nouns have distinctive SINGULAR and PLURAL forms. The plural of regular nouns is formed by adding -s to the singular:

dog	dogs
house	houses

C)However, there are many irregular nouns which do not form the plural in this way:

sheep	sheep

D)The distinction between singular and plural is known as NUMBER CONTRAST.

We can recognise many nouns because they often have the, a, or an in front of them:

the car
an artist
a review

These words are called determiners, which is the next word class we will look at.

E)Nouns may take an -'s ("apostrophe s") or GENITIVE MARKER to indicate possession:

the boy's pen
my girlfriend's brother
John's house

F)If the noun already has an -s ending to mark the plural, then the genitive marker appears only as an apostrophe after the plural form:

the boys' pens
the spiders' webs
the Browns' house

G)The genitive marker should not be confused with the 's form of contracted verbs, as in John's a good boy (= John is a good boy).

Nouns often co-occur without a genitive marker between them:
                      rally car
                     table top
                    University entrance examination

A)Nouns which name specific people or places are known as PROPER NOUNS.

John
Mary
London
France

B)Many names consist of more than one word:

John Wesley
Queen Mary
Atlantic Ocean
Buckingham Palace

C)Proper nouns may also refer to times or to dates in the calendar:

January, February, Monday, Tuesday, Christmas, Thanksgiving

Countable and Uncountable Nouns

A) Most nouns have singular and plural forms. They are countable nouns.

e.g. One letter, two letters

There is a letter on the table for you. (singular)

There are letters on the table for you. (plural)

B) Some nouns only have one form. They are uncountable nouns.

e.g. Money

There is no money in my bank account.

There is a lot of money in my bank account.

C) Many uncountable nouns refer to substances:

e.g. Chocolate, water, coffee, milk, sugar, salt, cheese, bread, rice, wood, glass, plastic, soap, toothpaste.

The milk is sour - let's make cheese.

D) Many uncountable nouns refer to abstract ideas or emotions.

e.g. love, sadness, happiness, education, knowledge, and grammar.

Money can't buy love.

E) You can use a/an with singular countable nouns.

e.g. an umbrella, a wheel, a mistake.

It's raining so I need an umbrella.

F) You can use plural countable nouns alone.

e.g. apples, bees, clouds.

There are clouds in the sky today.

G) You can't use an article with an uncountable noun.

e.g. time, sand, electricity.

We need electricity to use our heater.

5. suez canal joins the red sea and the mediterranean sea.

Complete each sentence by choosing the correct word and underline it.

3. (A little, A few) minutes is all it takes for him to shave.

4. The postman put (a great deal of, a lot of) letters into the bag.
